The reverse-chronological resume format is the gold standard. It’s for people with work histories defined by full- or part-time employment. But even if you’re a freelancer, try to make the reverse-chronological format work for you.
Otherwise: Go with a functional resume format if you’ve only had a smattering of freelance work and nothing else, or a combination format if you’ve been freelancing for a huge range of different clients for years.

Education isn’t always required to become a writer, but it rarely hurts. List degrees (with majors), school names, and years attended (or expected graduation dates). Then: Add additional bullets that show that writing is your calling.
