Resume Genius Reviews—Customer Experience
First, let’s do what most of us do when considering using a new product or service. In this case, one that helps us with resume formatting. Let’s take a look at what other customers think of the Resume.io builder.
On Trustpilot, Resume.io boasts a high score of 4.7 out of 5 stars. And they have over 43,000 reviews! 68% of which are 5-star reviews, and only 1% that shows 1-star ratings.
But if we look for Resume.io reviews on other popular sites, such as Sitejabber, we arrive at nothing:
So where else can we look? Well, one of the top rating sites to look for ‘Resume.io reviews’ is Product Hunt. And it paints a completely different picture:
1.4 stars out of 5, and 92% 1-star reviews. I’ll get to why that is in the Pros & Cons section.
How Does Resume.io Work?
The process is simple.
You pick a template and fill each resume section out. Your contact info, work experience, education, skills, resume summary, and additional sections of your choice. And, of course, each template is pre-formatted and download-ready for your convenience.
Here’s what the Toronto template looks like once ready to download:
Now, let’s move on to the good and bad sides of Resume.io.
Resume.io Review—Pros
1. 25+ Fillable Resume Templates
The first thing you need to know about Resume.io is their resume formats selection. They offer over 25 different resume templates to choose from. You’ll find them reviewed in the next chapter. Resume.io allows users to download their filled-out templates in 3 formats: PDF, DOCX, and TXT.
2. 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee
Always a good-to-have. Money-back guarantees let you cancel the subscription if you’re unsatisfied with the provided service.
3. Job Tracker & Interview Help
Resume.io’s tools can help their users with not just resume creation but also job searching and preparation for upcoming job interviews. You can hunt for jobs on Indeed and ZipRecruiter without leaving Resume.io’s website. You also gain access to Interview School, with hundreds of sample interview videos to help you prepare for your own.
4. Integrated Cover Letter Builder
What good is a resume without a matching cover letter? Not much. Cover letters are necessary. That’s why, on Resume.io, you can use a cover letter builder to supplement your resume.
5. Spelling Checker & Fillable Prompts
And to ensure that your perfect resume is not stained by unnecessary mistakes, an integrated spelling checker will point out errors you might’ve accidentally made. And if you’re stuck writing, you can use their fillable prompts to help you write faster.
Now, let’s talk about the disadvantages.
Resume.io Review—Cons
The Resume.io service is not without its flaws. The most common complaints are:
1. Poor Customer Service
Even though on Resume.io’s Trustpilot page, we can see a very high score, there is a certain metric that’s less than ideal. Resume.io replies to less than 10% of negative comments and does so in a very slow manner. Negative comments also frequently mention poor customer service, which doesn’t reply to emails or replies not resolving issues.
2. Subscription Money Being Taken Before Trial Period Ends & Refunds Not Being Offered
Usually, the aforementioned issues have to do with money. Customers had reported being charged a $24.95 monthly subscription cost even before the 7-day trial had ended. Upon contacting customer service, they have allegedly not been refunded.
3. Not Every Template is Available in DOCX
It’s a very beneficial thing that Resume.io offers their template in both PDF and DOCX. However, only four of their template designs are available for downloading in the DOCX format. This means the design you want to use, won’t be available for download in the two file types.

Resume.io Templates Review
What does a resume builder need? Resume templates, of course. With just a couple of seconds to catch the recruiter’s eye, it’s vital for Resume.io to provide templates with clean resume layouts.
Does it deliver? Let’s have a look at five Resume.io templates:
If you’re making an entry-level resume and are worried about having very little to show, the outline of the Singapore resume template has you covered. It leaves a lot of white space, creating a clean, minimalist, and readable resume style.
Chicago
This template is unusual, but that’s exactly what makes it draw eyes. In that case, a two-page resume is a must. The main page is reserved for your resume profile statement and your most recent work experience, putting all the most important information up front for maximum impact. This design has its drawbacks, as most employers prefer one-page resumes. And the unorthodox layout might mean some ATS systems could struggle to read your resume.
Madrid
The Madrid template is a modern resume design with clear, bold section highlights. Its colorful header engages the reader quickly and adds a splash of color that could benefit artist resumes. It’s also friendly for college graduate resumes.
Vancouver
This creative resume template brings attention to itself with a colorful background, which gives it a more lighthearted feel. Use it if you’re applying for an elementary teacher job or if you’re only starting out. Then consider listing the education section above work experience. But avoid it if you’re looking for a more formal occupation.
Expert Hint: Finding a striking resume layout is only half of the battle. Learn how to write a resume to be prepared 100%.
Double your impact with a matching resume and cover letter combo. Use our cover letter generator and make your application documents pop out.
Want to try a different look? There's 21 more. A single click will give your document a total makeover. Pick a cover letter template here.
So, is Resume.io a good builder? Providing a definite verdict with two completely opposite sets of reviews is difficult. On the one hand, we have a high Trustpilot score, on the other, there’s a low score on Product Hunt, with many customers disappointed with the customer service. And SiteJabber can’t be a tie-breaker.
What about my verdict? Resume.io seems to be a good resume builder with all the essentials you might need. But it appears to be plagued by not customer-oriented service when you need help outside the app.
And that’s it.
