    How to Write a Cover Letter for Social Media Jobs

    1. Use the Right Format on Your Social Media Cover Letter

    As a social media post, your cover letter must look appealing. Thankfully, there is a set of rules regarding business cover letter formatting.

    Here are the key rules for formatting your cover letter:

    • Align every paragraph to the left.
    • Use 1-inch margins on all sides of your document.
    • Opt for an easy-to-read font—you can’t go wrong with Arial or Helvetica. For cohesive branding, use the same font as on your resume. 
    • Leave line spacing at 1–1.15. 
    • Make a header identical to the one you’ve used on your resume.

    2. Introduce Your Candidature in the Opening Paragraph

    An excellent social media post is targeted to a clearly defined audience. The same rule applies to your social media cover letter. 

    Make sure the recruiter knows right from the first sentence that they’rereading something relevant to them. 

    First, address the cover letter directly to the person handling recruitment for your role. Use a greeting that mentions them by name, e.g., Dear Ms Smith or Dear Cynthia. If the job ad doesn’t mention the name of the recruiter, check the company’s social media (ha!) or website, or simply contact them and ask.
