Albert Kaminsky

CEO

Kaminsky Dental Studio

4516 Cottrill Lane

Atlanta, GA 30356

Dear Mr. Kaminsky,

I would like to introduce myself as an applicant for the Dentist position at Kaminsky Dental Studio. As a licensed dental professional with 9+ years of experience in private practice settings treating a diverse patient base in oral care and surgeries, I am looking to work in a friendly environment where I can contribute to practice growth and utilize my skills to the fullest extent.

At my current position as General Dentist at Westlake Dentistry, I provide and manage direct patient care, including examinations, diagnoses and treatment for a diverse patient population. As highlighted in the enclosed application materials, including resume and letters of recommendation, I am recognized not only for my excellence in quality restorative, cosmetic and preventive care, but also for my dedication to patients and the entire practice.

During my time at Westlake Dentistry I have performed all aspects of dentistry, treating over 3000 patients, including routine restorative treatment, extensive cosmetic procedures, prosthodontics (crown/bridge, implant, dentures), endodontics (anterior/molar), extractions, periodontal therapy and treatment, oral diagnosis, TMJ therapy, sleep apnea appliance therapy, and treatment planning.

Moreover, I have consistently surpassed 95% patient satisfaction rate by focusing on communication, streamlining documentation, and implementing and developing new patient care initiatives.

I am excited about the potential opportunity to join your team, as the Kaminsky Dental Studio is one of the most prestigious dental clinics in the entire Atlanta metro area. I strongly believe that my perpetually positive attitude, as well as passion to provide excellent patient care, will allow me to be a valuable asset to your practice.

Likewise, I'd love to discuss next steps with you to show how I believe I'll fit.

Nicely done! Charlie’s dentist cover letter will surely grab the attention of the employer in a positive way.

But I’m fresh out of college, how can I convince the employer if I don’t have any professional experience?!”

Don’t stress, we’ve got you covered here as well. If you’re an entry-level job-seeker, all you have to do is introduce them to your personality and your commitment to the profession by leveraging your academic background and skills.

Our next candidate, Ashley, is a fresh DMD degree holder with lots and lots of enthusiasm for the field.

How do we know that? She may not have worked professionally yet, but she did gain some experience during her university years. Let’s take a look:

Beatrice Luke

Head of Human Resources

Greenbriar Dental Care

3614 Joseph Street

Raleigh, NC 27601

Dear Ms. Luke,

I would like to put forth my application in response to your General Dentist opening at Greenbriar Dental Care. I believe my qualifications and experience make me an ideal candidate for this job.

I recently received my DMD degree from Augusta University (with a GPA of 3.9), which has given me a fundamental understanding of business principles and will aid in my transition from student to practicing dentist. Although I am a relatively new dentist, I have used my time in dental school to gain exposure to all branches of dentistry through participation in 4 externships, 3 research programs, and one dental organization. During my externships I have shadowed Dr. Margareta Alday, provided diagnosis, treatment planning, and oral hygiene education to about 5 patients daily. I was working about 25 hours a week and was recognized for my scientific knowledge in solving problems. Moreover, I have visited 15+ elementary schools in the area to examine, assess, and treat students' teeth and provide oral hygiene instructions.

I firmly believe that I will be a good fit in Greenbriar Dental Care’s collaborative, respectful, and compassionate culture. I am excited at the prospect of working for Greenbriar Dental Care and have enclosed my resume for your review.

Can we set up a call or a meeting to discuss how my skills can help your practice keep delivering world-class dental care?

Kind regards,

Ashely Huang

2. How to Write a Cover Letter for a Dentist Job?

Here’s how to write the best cover letter for a dentist position:

1. Format Your Dentist Cover Letter Appropriately

A small cavity can turn into a BIG problem. What if we told you that a bad choice of font can also cause your cover letter to land in the trash? Well—

Bad formatting and an unorganized arrangement of the contents of a cover letter are one of the most common cover letter mistakes, which can cost you a chance of an interview. Follow this cover letter formatting guide to craft an application that stands out and lands you the job:

Dentist Cover Letter Format

  • Use a clean typeface that matches your resume font—Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman, or any other professional font that’s easy to read.
  • Set your margins to 1 inch on all sides of the document.
  • Always align-left without justification and use 1.15 line spacing.
  • Try to keep the length of your cover letter no more than one page.
  • Organize your cover letter the following way: Header, 3 paragraphs (Introduction, Your Qualifications, Motivational Statement), Call to Action, Sign-Off.

Now you can prepare your cover letter heading section.

2. Put All Your Information in the Cover Letter Header

First step: include your information and contact details, just in case your cover letter gets separated from your resume. But remember—

To make sure they complement each other best, your cover letter header should look exactly like your resume header. Feel free to use this cover letter header template:

3. Begin With a Polite Greeting and an Introduction

Starting your cover letter with a generic greeting will cause the employer to grind his or her teeth. It makes your cover letter look generic and mass-produced, which is the first red flag for the hiring manager that you didn’t take your time to research the company you’re applying to.

That’s why it’s so important to address your cover letter to a specific person by name. Next, introduce yourself by stating your profession, years of experience, and the position you are applying for. You can also add where you found the job posting. Here’s what a great cover letter intro should look like:

Cover Letter for Dentist Job: Introduction

Dear [Hiring Manager’s Name],

Being a dental professional with [X]+ years of experience and a proven track record in [Achievement #1 with metric], I was excited to spot an opening at your practice. Having [Achievement #2 with metric], and having sizable experience in [Skill / Experience], I believe I will make a worthwhile addition to [Target Company Name]’s team of committed staff team and achieve [something important to the employer].

Use 1 or 2 of your most notable accomplishments to really grab the reader’s attention and prove your professionalism and potential. If you’re worried you don’t know the name of the hiring manager, there is a few things that you can do:

  • Double-check the job advertisement, there might be an email provided that could have the name of the person who handles looking over applicants.
  • Poke around LinkedIn, chances are you have connections that might lead you to the right person.
  • There’s nothing wrong with calling the establishment directly to ask for that information. It’s a common practice.

If you’ve done everything in your power to find that name, but still haven’t succeeded, simply start with “Dear Hiring Manager”: studies show it’s the most preferred cover letter salutation that’s not personalized.

4. Write a Jaw-Dropping Second Paragraph by Highlighting Your Skills and Experience

The second paragraph of your dentist cover letter should refer to the requirements from the dentist job description. Target your cover letter the same way you targeted your resume and use job-specific keywords to make sure your application gets noticed.

In 120 words or fewer, list 2–3 accomplishments that demonstrate why you really are the best of the best. You can talk about just about anything here: your professional achievements, skills, credentials, and even your academic background if you’re writing a cover letter with no experience. Check out this template:

Cover Letter for Dentist Office: Second Paragraph

Your job advertisement calls for a person experienced in [refer to the requirements of the job]. During my time at [Name of Your Current or Most Recent Institution], I have excelled at [responsibilities, duties, projects, achievements, supported by metrics, if possible]. I am confident that these experiences will enable me to succeed at [Target Institution Name].

Expert Hint: Nowadays, it’s not just about finishing a degree. Dentists need to be just as business savvy as they are knowledgeable about advanced procedures. According to the BLS, dentists are one of the highest-paid professions in the United States, which means there is a lot of competition.

5. Explain Why Working At This Particular Company Would Benefit You

You want this job. So tell them why you chose them. The person reading your cover letter wants to know why working at this specific company is so important to you.

Make sure your enthusiasm is sincere and show them that their values, culture, and goals match your own. Like so:

Dentist Cover Letter (Recent Graduate)

Finally, my reason for applying to [Target Institution Name] relates to [something you genuinely admire about the company]. I take great pride in my professional beliefs, and the mission of your company mirrors my own. To grow at [Target Instituion Name] while developing my skills in conjunction with your mission is a great opportunity for my career.

6. Finish With a Clear Call to Action and a Sign-Off

Just before you sign off your cover letter formally, propose a meeting or call to discuss the position further. Reiterate your proposal and interest in the position, and make it known what you want — the opportunity to speak with someone about the job. Here’s how to effectively end a cover letter:

Sample Cover Letter for Dentist Job: Call to Action

Could we schedule a meeting or video call to discuss how my skills would be a great fit for helping [Institution Name] to achieve [Something Important to the Company]?

Sincerely,
